Diets are self imposed torture

Posted by Scribbles

We are doing an 11-day diet. The goal is to recharge the metabolism. Meals are split up into four or five small meals consisting of no carbs and manly just protein. For example one of the meals was some cashews and some cheese slices.

I am slowly dying.

I dont know who came up with it but I am sure they are enjoying a card game with their good buddy laughing about it. What is really evil is that if I go off the diet too soon I will balloon up because Im eating so many meats and other stuff that normally makes you fat. The food choices are odd, none of them are actual meals. They are combinations like: slices of deli ham and/or pinto beans.

I have such low brain function... I need to focus on breathing and ignore the rumbling.

He was driving and eating it

This weekend Wife and I are headed to the Bay area for a friend's wedding.
This will be our second road trip in two months. The first being a major trip half way across the country. There are a few things that I notice are common to all road trips.
First is you never have to pee until you are at least 5 miles past the last rest area or gas station. If you happen to win the lotto and be at a stop when you have to go you will only need to find anothe gas station 15 minutes later.
Second goldfish crackers and/or sunflower seeds.
Third truckers own the road just make sure you don't make them mad. Nothing like a 100 ton behemoth passing and overtaking you at 80 miles an hour and watching the trailer weave.
The biggest ball of twine is as boring as you thought it would be. The real most interesting sights will be the other drivers on the road. For example: today the driver next to me was eating corn on the cob. This man obviously had to Plan this. No one is running out the door and misses the pop tart and grabs a nice roasted husk of kansas' own. He literrally had to cook that grab some butter and headed out with yellow stringy stuff between his teeth.
There is a sweet spot of the amount of people to take in the same car. Four people is good. Any more after that and you better be travelling somewhere to win a trophy.
And finally there are way more denny's in the world than you thought.

Mr Entrepreneur

So I went through all of high school going to art class. I then went to college for graphic design and illustration. I had, from a young age, the goal of working as an artist. But then I dropped out and went down a different career path and I happy about it. But I have always continued drawing, painting and creating.

I have carried a sketchbook with me for years now. And when people saw my stuff it was either "Oh that's nice" then runs and hides or "Its really cool". But I have never moved to the point of doing anything with what I have created. Recently Wife has really gotten into browsing Etsy.com bordering on addiction. She has been encouraging me to paint and put up some of my work for sale. I have always kinda put it off with not a lot of confidence that it would actually sale. With the cost of trying to sale an item so low though I finally went ahead with it. I put my art up for sale.

And two pieces sold in a half hour!

I was dumbfounded, really really surprised. And so stoked! So now I have my Etsy store open with a few items. I have shipped out my first two pieces to my first customer. And I have been on a painting craze. Now Im a little more addicted to the site than Wife and am pushing her to put up some of her stuff.

I have also added a mini store to the right that will display some of my art and will be updated as I update my store.

Packing a suitcase for sanity

Posted by Scribbles

Tomorrow Wife and I head for Orlando Florida. After a very busy last few months we are looking forward to an actual real full fledged vacation. How busy were we? Two parental anniversaries, did the flowers for three weddings (Wife was the Maitren of Honor in one of them), Bachelor and Bachelorette trips, four san diego murals , plus those pesky things called jobs at least 5 days of the week. Then throw in the usual "Let's try to do something fun so we don't go insane" activities.

But we are finally going to get a break. We found a really good deal on pretty much everything, we just have to pedal the plane there. Seriously though, we just have to go through flying on an airline to get there. And we all know how well that usually goes. But this should be different. There won't be any car acciedents, weddings to do, work in general. Just me, the Wife, a guy with ears, some white sand beaches and a whole lot of relaxation.

So peace out to life for a couple days. One more day of work and we are on East Coast time.

Do you have anything to say Mr. Banks

Driving down the road I saw a kite being flown on this windy day. I don't remember the last time I saw a kite being flown and I know it has been even longer since I have flown one.

Not that I'm opposed to kites. Quite opposite, its just that I haven't found the time to fly one. I haven't had the day when I made it happen. Which lead me to this thought:

No matter where you are in life or how your day is going, if you drive by or a flying kite it is almost a absolute positive that the person at the end of that string is having a better day than you.

Think about what it takes to fly one. The right day, the right amount of wind, the previous time to buy a kite, and the ability to stop whatever you are doing grab your kite and enjoy such a simple pleasure. You are having a good day. You have a good perspective on things.

Maybe George Banks had it right all along.
